HELD & FRANCKE Baugesellschaft mbH, a member of the HABAU GROUP headquartered in Linz, is building a new site in Hinzenbach (Upper Austria) on an area spanning approx. 45,000 square metres. The build was celebrated on 15 September 2020 within the context of a ground-breaking ceremony, which was also attended by Upper Austria’s Regional Minister for Economic Affairs Markus Achleitner.
Economic impetus for the region
“We are very pleased to continue our success story with our site expansion. We will be investing 20 million euros into this project over the next three years, thereby creating more than 40 new jobs in the Eferding region,” explains Harald Krammer, Technical Director of the company. This is also an important strategic investment for the HABAU GROUP as a whole, as Hubert Wetschnig, CEO of the HABAU GROUP, notes: “Both HELD & FRANCKE and the entire group of companies stand to benefit from the expansion of the Hinzenbach site, which will include its own asphalt mixing plant. This gives us that bit more autonomy and expands our value chain.”
Focus on sustainability
The construction work for the building of the recycling processing area has already started. HELD & FRANCKE will process demolition materials on site, including asphalt, old concrete and bricks, with a focus on sustainability moving forwards. “Using resources sensibly is an important part of our company philosophy,” says Johann Knöll, also a Technical Director. “Adding recycling plants, which are able to produce building materials of the highest order, gives us the ability to further enhance our sustainable way of working.” “At the heart of this recycling section of the site is a state-of-the-art asphalt mixing plant. It meets the highest ecological standards by processing old treated asphalt so it can be reused in an environmentally friendly way,” adds Josef Zauner, Commercial Director.
Investment volume of 20 million euros
Plans for an office building, comprising training and seminar rooms with state-of-the-art equipment and workplaces, are also under way. “This major investment by HELD & FRANCKE will not just have a positive knock-on effect for the Eferding region, but also stands to benefit Upper Austria as a hub of economic activity. I congratulate the company on its site expansion. This investment of 20 million euros will not only strengthen the company itself, but will also stimulate the regional economy and create more than 40 new jobs. Particularly in light of the current coronavirus pandemic, investment decisions such as this act as a decidedly positive signal, because we have to do everything within our power to get our economy moving again,” emphasised Markus Achleitner, Regional Minister for Economic Affairs, at the ground-breaking ceremony.
