Fit for the future: new opening of HABAU GROUP headquarters HAB1 in Perg

After two years of construction, the HABAU GROUP is opening the doors to its new Group headquarters HAB1 in Perg. With this update, it has created a future-oriented working environment for around 220 Habau employees.

In the Upper Austrian city of Perg, where the family company has its roots, the HABAU GROUP expanded and modernised the existing Group headquarters within a timeframe of two years. All areas of the building were brought in line with the very latest standards and made fit for the future. Now, on 20 June, HAB1 was presented to customers, employees and all those who accompanied the process during a ceremonial opening together with Perg’s mayor, Anton Froschauer, at Greiner Straße 63.

“With HAB1, we are pleased to have created a modern place of work in our home city of Perg that reflects our values and lives up to the requirements of a sustainable workplace”, stated Hubert Wetschnig, CEO of the HABAU GROUP. “The new headquarters puts our employees front and centre; after all, their commitment and passion are the foundation of our company and the key to our success.”

Mayor Anton Froschauer was equally delighted: “For decades now, the HABAU GROUP has been a fixed component of our community and an important economic driver for Perg. The opening of the new Group headquarters HAB1 is an impressive example of how tradition and innovation can be harmoniously combined with one another. At the same time, the HABAU GROUP provides jobs for a large number of people, contributing significantly to the positive development of our region.”

HAB1: the working world of tomorrow

The new company building was planned according to the designs of architecture firm F2-Architekten and executed in-house by HABAU during normal operations. The focus was on the comprehensive modernisation of the old building structure, parts of which dated back to the 60s. The goal was to secure economic efficiency for the future and create optimised spatial concepts to ensure short distances and structured processes. In the course of the renovation, all organisational procedures were also optimised and updated.

The building, featuring three stories, a gross floor area of 5,200 square metres and an outdoor area of 1,800 square metres, provides workplaces for around 220 employees of the Group company HABAU. A total of around 12 million euros was invested.

The new Group headquarters revolves around the innovative “AirDeck”, which floats above the existing building and creates new office spaces without modifying the historical building structure. Thus the newly created courtyard between the AirDeck and existing building becomes the heart of the building complex, and also houses the canteen.

Focusing on the construction family and sustainable transformation

Throughout the creation process, the needs of the employees took centre stage. With this in mind, a crèche with two groups and social areas will be implemented by autumn. Also included is a movement room available to employees for various health and fitness programmes. At the same time, care was taken right from the start to include the surrounding nature in the construction project and to integrate recreational and green areas into the building.

And the issue of sustainability also played a role in the redesign. Particularly worth mentioning is the sustainable energetic development of the company building. Both heating and cooling are made possible by means of an efficient and largely energy self-sufficient solution, with logs used to heat the old building and geothermal energy for the new one. Additionally, the existing photovoltaic system generates electricity for heating and cooling. As part of the conversion, the east façade was fitted out with sun protection slats that reduce solar radiation in the building’s interior. Similarly, the incorporation of rammed earth elements in the meeting rooms also has a positive impact on the indoor climate.
